從前從前有一位國王, 他有一個美麗的女兒,也就是公主啦.
Once upon a time there lived a king.
The king had a beautiful daughter,
the princess.

可是問題是任何東西只要被公主摸到

都會融化, 不管是金屬啦, 木頭啦, 塑膠啦,

只要被她摸到, 一定溶化!

But there was a problem.
Everything the princess touched would melt.
No matter what;
metal,
wood,
plastic
anything she touched would melt.

也因為如此, 男人們都很怕她,

也沒有人敢娶她

Because of this, men were afraid of her.
Nobody would dare marry her.

這個國王真是絕望極了

“要怎樣才可以幫他女兒呢?”

The king despaired.

What could he do to help his daughter?

他和巫師商量著該怎麼辦,

而其中一位巫師告訴他,

“如果您的女兒摸到一樣東西而它不會在她的手裏溶化的話,

她的病便會不藥而瘉了!”

He consulted his wizards and magicians.
One wizard told the king,

"If your daughter touches one thing
that does not melt in her hands,
she will be cured."

這個國王聽了真是高興極了,

於是第二天, 他便 辦了一場比賽, 規則是:

任何男人只要能拿到在他女兒手中不會溶化的東西

便可以娶她的女兒,並繼承他所有的財富.

The king was overjoyed.

The next day,
he held a competition.
Any man that could bring his daughter an
object that would not melt would marry her
and inherit the king's wealth.

三位年輕的王子前來挑戰

第一位拿的是非常硬的 鈦合金,

但是….., 公主才剛碰到它, 它就溶化了. 這位王子便十分傷心地離開了….

Three young princes took up the challenge.

The first prince brought a very hard alloy of titanium.
But alas,
once the princess touched it,
it melted.
The prince went away sadly.

第二位王子拿的一個巨大的鑽石,

他想 既然鑽石是全世界最硬的東西, 一定不會溶化….

可是…. 公主才剛碰到它, 它就溶化了. 這位王子也十分傷心地離開了…

The second prince brought a huge diamond,
thinking that diamond is the hardest substance
in the world and would not melt.
But alas,
once the princess touched it,
it melted.
He too was sent away disappointed.

第三位王子走向前告訴公主,

“請把您的手放在我的口袋裏並摸摸看是什麼東西在裏面.”

The third prince approached.
He told the princess,
"Put your hand in my pocket and feel what
is in there."
這位公主遵照他的指示, 把手放在他的口袋,

不過她的臉卻害羞的變紅了…

她摸到硬硬的東西,不過卻沒有在她的手裏溶化!!!

The princess did as she was told,
though she turned red.
She felt something hard.
She held it in her hand.
And it did not melt!!!

這位國王十分開心, 這個王國裏的每一個人也都高興極了,

而第三位王子也如願地娶了公主,從此過著幸福快樂的日子.

The king was overjoyed.
Everybody in the kingdom was overjoyed.
And the third prince married the princess
and they both lived happily ever after.
