Q: What is the final Build number of Windows XP ?
A: Windows XP program manager John Gray told testers that the rumors of 2600.1, 2600.2 and 2600.3 are wrong: The final build number is just 2600!
Q: SO ok.. Which versions of Windows XP do you have ?
A: There are 2 official versions from MS:
usa_2600__x86fre.per_whistler.iso -> 473 MB (496,551,936 bytes)
usa_2600_x86eval.pro_whistler.iso -> 488 MB (512,325,632 bytes)
The fre.per version is limited to 180 days
The eval.pro version is limited to 120 days
Q: Ok.. I got my hands on one of the 2 official versions.. Do I need a key and do I need to activate them ?
A: Yes and Yes. You need a serial ( key ) to install them. After that you'll have 30 days to activate them.
Q: And What about the windowsxp.usa2600 version, Leaked on 15 aug...?? Is this the same version as the Final version released on 25 aug ?
A: NO. This is not the Final version, this one differs from the Final one, John Gray told testers that !
Q: What about the Windows.XP.Professional.2600.Eval.RTM.Cracked-Sinister.Internal version ?
A: This is a modified usa_2600_x86eval.pro_whistler.iso, this version requires NO activation and is cracked. Files with version 2600 are replaced with 2535. This may cause instability !!
Q: Okey... What About an Auto/Patch ? What's that ? Mr. THC ??
A: This removes the activation from Windows XP ( final ) by replacing new files with older files ( 2535 ) This may cause instability !! An example is the Mr. THC Crack !
Q: How to remove the 180/120 days from the eval versions ?
A: This can be done by replacing 'setupreg.hiv' -> You will need a modified 'setupreg.hiv' or the one from a OEM/Retail version..
Q: What's up with the OEM version ??
A: This version requires NO !! Activation, just a serial ! This version is not leaked 'yet' ! XP OEM may not be easy to install, Apparently it'll only install on certain BIOS's, to stop pirating. Just wait !
Q: What about the Reset patch ( Digital ID / Reset3 2600 ) ?
A: This Crack/Hack sets the 'time left to activation' back to zero on every boot. It also removes the baloons and popups to activate -> Windows XP will never be activated with this Crack.
Q: What does mean VLK ?
A: VLK = Volume Licence Key, a product key that disables the need to activate Windows XP
